What tax advantages does company health insurance have?

Health insurance is a tax-deductible employee benefit. For the employee, the first €500 per insured person per year are exempt from IRPF (personal income tax).

If you are self-employed, you can deduct your own insurance, your spouse's and your children's up to €500 per person per year.

No VAT is added to the policy price: only the Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros surcharge, 0.15% of the net annual premium.

From how many employees can I take out company health insurance?

It depends on the plan. Sanitas Profesionales is for the self-employed (and their spouse and children up to age 26). Sanitas Pymes Digital and Pymes Más Digital are for SMEs. Sanitas Empresas and Empresas Más Digital are for companies with 100 or more insured persons.

What is the tax advantage for the employee?

The first €500 per insured person per year are exempt from IRPF (personal income tax).

What if I'm self-employed?

As a self-employed person you can deduct the insurance (yours, your spouse's and your children's) up to €500 per person per year.

Does company insurance have waiting periods or pre-existing conditions exclusions?

Sanitas Empresas, Empresas Más Digital and Básico Digital Empresas: no waiting periods and no pre-existing conditions exclusions. Pymes Digital and Pymes Más Digital: no waiting periods and no pre-existing conditions exclusions depending on the size of the company. Sanitas Inicia: no waiting periods (except childbirth) and no pre-existing conditions exclusions (except serious ones).

Are there co-payments?

On company plans, the first 6 services of the year have no co-payment. After that you pay €4 (7th to 10th), €7 (11th to 15th) or €10 (from the 16th). The dental co-payment is €3.

Does it include work and road traffic accidents?

Yes, Sanitas Pymes Digital includes road traffic and work accidents. Sanitas Profesionales also includes them for the self-employed, as well as accidental death funeral cover.

What is the most affordable option for my staff?

Sanitas Básico Digital Empresas: essential cover at the best price, with digital health and home services (medicines, with 6 deliveries and €200 reimbursement, and 2 home blood tests).

Can employees include their family?

Yes, a spouse or partner and children can be added to the same policy. Tell us how many people you want to insure and we'll include them in the proposal.

What does Blua digital health include?

Video consultations with GPs and specialists, emergency video consultations, symptom checker, digital physio, psychological support and health programmes from the Mi Sanitas app.

Is there cover outside Spain?

Yes. Emergencies abroad for stays of up to 90 days and an international second medical opinion from leading specialists.

How much does company health insurance cost?
