Mixed premium
Unlike natural premiums (very cheap at first but extremely expensive in old age, just when they are needed most), the Asistencia Familiar iPlus mixed premium is very competitive for young people and remains stable from age 65. Fairer and more predictable.
The type of premium determines how much you will pay over the whole life of the insurance:
If you are young or of working age, we recommend Asistencia Familiar iPlus. If you are over 65 and want to pay just once, there is Asistencia Senior insurance.

Ideally, take it out when you leave home and, above all, when you start a family, so that they are protected against anything that may happen. The sooner you take it out, the better your premium will be over the whole life of the insurance. If you are over 75, there is the Asistencia Senior option with a single premium, no waiting periods or pre-existing conditions exclusions, even if you have a serious illness. If you are a foreign national living in Spain, we recommend taking it out as soon as you have your NIE or residence card.
They are different products and compatible with each other. Life insurance offers financial compensation to the beneficiaries in the event of the death or disability of the insured person. Funeral insurance covers all the services needed after death (funeral home, cremation, transfers, psychological support, etc.) and also offers benefits you can use during your lifetime, such as legal protection, travel assistance or repatriation.
The price depends on the age of the insured person, the sum insured, where you live and the type of premium. The optional cover is very reasonably priced: €1.16 a month for comprehensive family legal protection, €0.50 a month for travel assistance and €2.50 a month for repatriation of foreign residents. Natural premium: very cheap when you are young, but it soars with age.
Mixed premium (the iPlus one): moderate when you are young, somewhat higher during your working years, and it stabilises from age 65. The most balanced and secure option.
Single premium: one payment when you sign up. This is the Asistencia Senior option, recommended for people over 65.
It depends on the illness and how serious it is. As a general rule, unless you have a serious illness, you can take out Asistencia Familiar iPlus. Asistencia Senior can be taken out even if you have a serious illness, because it has no waiting periods or pre-existing conditions exclusions.
Asistencia Familiar iPlus can be taken out up to age 75. Once the policy is in place, there is no maximum age to keep it. From age 75 we recommend Asistencia Senior, with a single premium.
If you have been a resident in Spain for more than three months, you can add the optional repatriation cover for €2.50 a month, whatever your home country. It takes care of the transfer to the country of your choice, with no limit on the amount, and includes the travel costs of one accompanying family member.
A large share of claims involving young people are due to accidents of all kinds: road, work or sports accidents. The optional accident cover pays up to €24,000 for a road traffic accident, with no extra premium for high-risk occupations or sports. And signing up young means a better premium over the whole life of the insurance.
