Sanitas expat health insurance in Spain, in English

It is a contract with an insurer that coverages all or part of the cost of private healthcare: consultations, diagnostic tests, treatments, surgery or hospital stays, depending on the policy. In Spain it complements the public system and gives you faster, more convenient access to private healthcare.

It greatly reduces waiting times for appointments and tests, gives you direct access to specialists without going through a GP, free choice of centres in the medical network, a private room if you are admitted and services such as video consultation, check-ups and digital health.

With co-payment: you pay a small amount each time you use a service and the monthly premium is lower.

Without co-payment: a fixed premium that coverages the use of the included services, with no extra cost per consultation or test.

Reimbursement: you can see any doctor, even outside the Sanitas network, and get up to 90% of the costs back.

For international students: complete coverageagege, no co-payments and valid for the student visa.

Policies last 12 months, except Sanitas International Students and Sanitas Estudiantes. They renew automatically unless the policyholder gives notice of non-renewal at least one month before the end of the contract.

It is a small amount you pay when you use certain services, which keeps the premium lower. Many Sanitas plans can be taken with or without co-payment, with the same coverage. Co-payments are billed monthly and the details are in each plan's page.

They are illnesses or injuries you had before taking out the policy. If this applies to you, the Sanitas medical department will call you to assess it before enrolment.

The time that must pass after signing up before you can use certain services, usually complex tests or treatments. Consultations and simple tests (blood tests, ultrasounds, X-rays) have no waiting period. If you come from another health insurer, we can remove them: tell us when you sign up.

It depends on the plan, your age and the number of people insured. No VAT is added to the premium: only the Insurance Compensation Consortium surcharge, 0.15% of the net annual premium, paid with the first bill. Ask us for your price and we will send it in writing.
